Services We Offer

A child’s initial evaluation and therapy appointments are typically scheduled by our front desk personnel.  Evaluations and therapy appointments are scheduled according to therapist availability, although we do try to make appointment times that are available at your convenience.

An initial evaluation includes:

·        Review of medical history and previous testing (i.e. developmental, neurological, psychological, etc.).

·        Review of school notes/plans (IEP).

·        Evaluation using appropriate protocols.

·        Brief overview of testing results. 

After initial evaluation, a written report is completed and sent to the child’s parents and the referring physician.  Additional reports can be sent to other facilities, if requested.

The trained Speech-Language Pathologists at TheraKids, Inc. can complete a diagnostic evaluation for children with:

·        Language Disorders.

·        Language Learning Disabilities.

·        Language Processing Disorders.

·        Semantic-Pragmatic Disorders.

·        Dyslexia.

·        Articulation Disorders.

·        Phonological Process Disorders.

·        Motor Speech Disorders.

·        Hearing loss.

·        Cochlear implants.

·        Feeding Difficulties associated with oral motor muscle or sensory deficits.

·        Feeding aversion.

·        Oral motor deficits.

·        Swallowing difficulties.

·        Cleft lip/palate.

Evaluations can also be completed for patients who have previously been diagnosed with:

·        Asperger’s Syndrome.

·        Autism.

·        Autism Spectrum Disorder.

·        ADD/ADHD.

·        Cerebral Palsy.

·        Developmental Delays.

·        Down Syndrome.

·        Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

·        PDD.

·        Williams Syndrome.

Treatment/Therapy

A child’s therapy sessions are typically scheduled with the evaluating therapist, either at the initial evaluation or after the written report has been completed.  Therapy sessions can occur 1-5 times weekly for 30-60 minutes, depending on the child’s needs and the therapist’s availability.  Intervention includes regularly scheduled therapy times, parent counseling, and consultation with school and other therapy settings.  

Intervention can be completed for:

·     Auditory Process Deficits.

·       Beginning Communication Boards

·        Language Disorders.

·        Language Learning Disabilities.

·        Language Processing Disorders.

·        Semantic-Pragmatic Disorders.

·        Dyslexia.
